My 4 x great grandfather James Haggie (soldier), born abt 1769, married a Rachel Le Sauvage (born abt 1787) in Jersey. They had several children, one being George Haggie, born abt 1812 who we believe is my 3 x great grandfather. George Haggie married Mary Marguerite Perchard (bapt 8.10.1806) in Jersey in 1843. A John Haggie, born abt 1837, who we understand is the son of George and Mary Marguerite, arrived in New Zealand in the mid 1850’s as a teenager and married in 1859 to an Ellen Quinn in Dunedin, New Zealand. There are now hundreds of “Haggie” descendants in New Zealand and many of us would love to find out more about our Channel Island roots. Any information on particularly James Haggie (could be Haggily, Haggaiy) or any Haggie, plus their wives and families would be much appreciated. My husband and I are thinking of travelling to Jersey in the next year or two and would like as much information as we can before we travel this far.
