Le Masurier family page and links to other trees

In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content

Record Search

If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.

You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.

The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the yellow Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for www.jerripediabmd.net. For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.

Notes and references

  1. Fisherman
  2. Mason
  3. Mason
  4. The marriage record shows lydia as a mason's daughter, but the opposite page shows Desire as a farmer
  5. Worked as a casual gardener at Longueville Manor alongside his wife's father
  6. The following notes have been provided by his son John Paul: At the age of 17 and with noises of war breaking out again he tried to join the Army, but was told he could not join until he turned 18, so on his birthday he enlisted and did some basic training before he was posted in England. He left Jersey with his two sisters, Beryl and Kathleen, and his father. The ship docked in Wales and he made his way to Aldershot, where he got a job as a clerk in the Royal Irish Hussars. His first posting was to France and he was one of the lucky ones rescued from the beach at Dunkirk by a small boat. On returning to England he was sent with the 8th Army to Egypt, and finally Italy. He was also in a large group of people sent to Berlin to help feed the defeated German people after the War, and help run the logistics over there. He then took leave and met and married my mother, Muriel Mc Neilly, in Wales. They moved briefly to Jersey and in 1946 they had there first child, Paul Francis. He died soon after his birth. In 1949 my father was posted to Singapore, where they had a daughter Susan, who died suddenly in 1951. Soon afterwards my mother gave birth to another Daughter, Judith, in Cyprus in 1951. My father was then posted back to England and was stationed in Hounslow. My mother than gave birth in Bedford to another girl, Janet, in 1961. My father was then posted to Aldershot, where I was born in the Army Hospital in 1962. My father left the Army in 1962 having reached the rank of Regimental Sergeant Major and W/O class 2. He then became a civil servant and worked in the social services department in chestnut House Darlington
