This Jerripedia family tree was first added to the site in 2016. It was submitted by a user and has been cross-checked against church and parish records. It was reviewed in 2018 and some adjustments made. A further review in 2020 established that John at the head of the tree was born in Jersey, the son of another John, and married twice in Jersey.

The submitted tree showed John's wife Rachel born Hibbert, in 1825, and the couple's marriage in Lancashire in 1833, when she would have been only eight.

This is obviously incorrect. Jersey church records, both for marriages and baptisms, make it clear that John was married twice in Jersey, as shown in the tree. Both his wives were called Rachel, neither was nee Hibbert, and both came from Jersey. Although we have not found a baptism record, John's marriage records show him born in St Helier, Jersey.

The 1851 and 1861 censuses show his second wife Rachel Pallot, born in St Mary. The first of these censuses shows the three surviving of the John's first four children born in St Lawrence, the 1861 census shows all the children born in St Mary. Neither is correct, because parish birth registers record their births and their mother as shown.

Record Search

If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.

You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.

The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the yellow Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for www.jerripediabmd.net. For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.
