Descendants of Philippe Bisson

This tree, reduced considerably in size by the removal of a descendant line in 2019, is so suspect that it is likely to be deleted.

There is doubt about the remaining top two generations of this tree. Edouard, at generation 3, could be the son of Philippe Bisson and Sara Bertaut, but we think it more likely that he was the son of Philippe and Elizabeth Le Gros, as shown. Nicolas at the top of this tree was either the son of Nicolas, Pierre, Michel, Thomas or Jean, all of whom had sons named Nicolas born and baptised in St Lawrence between 1656 and 1666

Further doubts have emerged about the line from Edouard and Ann Vautier. There were two Edouards born in St Lawrence in 1762 and 1763, and there is a burial record in 1772 for Edouard, son of Edouard, son of Philippe. This suggests that the Edouard who married Anne Vautier was probably not born in 1762, the son of Edouard and Elizabeth, nee Every, but was born in 1763, the son of Philippe and Elizabeth, nee Le Gros. Unless there were two such couples, they were married in St Martin in 1744 and could not fit into this tree as shown.

That leaves very little of the tree substantiated! Our inquiries are continuing

Record Search

If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.

You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.

The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the yellow Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.
