Origin of Surname

The surname Le Pelley is of Norman origin, and can be traced back in Guernsey to at least 1555 when Guillaume Le Pelley fils Pierre purchased La Roque Balan

Members of the Le Pelley family owned the leasehold of Sark, and seven generations of the Le Pelley family were Seigneurs of Sark.

The surname is of Norman origin, and whilst the surname is now extinct in Normandy, there have been a number of notable Normans who have borne this name - including the corsair Georges Pléville Le Pelley (1726-1805)
