World War 1 recipients of the Military Cross

The Roll of Honour and Roll of Service of the Channel Island Great War Study Group list a significant number either born in Jersey or with island connections who were awarded the Military Cross, but details of the act of bravery are given for only a few of them.

We have been researching Jersey Military Cross recipients and are compiling this detailed list, which excludes those for whom we have not been able to establish a strong connection to the island, such as those soldiers who married a woman from the island but appear never to have lived in Jersey.

The dates which accompany citations on this page, or other pages we have linked to, are those for the announcement of the award in the Official Gazette.

In some cases for which no citation has been found, it is possible that the Military Cross was awarded during service before the Great War
