Descendants of Elie Le Marquand



This tree was first added to the site in 2011. Further research resulted in the addition of a new tree - Descendants of Elie Le Marquand - from a different source, and showing some variations. We then received a third tree, added as Descendants of Elie Le Marquand - 2 - which suggests, among other differences, that it was Nicolas (1642- ) who married a Catherine Viel, not his son, but church records for the family in the 17th century do not identify the mothers of those Le Marquands baptised in St Ouen and St Peter. We are unable at this stage to say which of the three trees is the more reliable, and suspect that there are errors in all three. However, this tree, following a review in 2021, supported by an online tree created by a respected researcher, does appear to be accurate.

We were alerted to a potential problem in January 2018. It was suggested that the Philippe Le Marquand born in 1842 was not the Philippe who married Eliza Jane Blampied. This Philippe was said to have been born and baptised in St Ouen in 1839, the son of Philippe and Betsey L'Anglois. The suspect entries were highlighted in red but the 2021 review, supported by the online tree mentioned above, suggests that the descent shown was accurate.

A further review in 2021 resulted in the addition of more details and a new descendant line from Pierre and Elizabeth Le Gros at generation 7

Another review in 2022 - we spend a lot of time working on these trees! - resulted in the addition of further details, and a descent from Charles (1765- ) at generation 6 at the bottom of the tree
