This small 19th century cottage has an historical significance associated with the construction of nearby St Catherine's breakwater. It gives a positive contribution to its setting with its scale and proportions.
Early-19th century cottage, converted for use as a hospital circa 1850 to treat workers injured building St Catherine's Breakwater, and as a clinic for the children of the workforce.
Single storey, three-bay cottage. 21st century extension to south and 20th century lean-to to the north. Slate roof with rendered chimney on each gable. THree bays of windows on seaward side.
Ceiling hooks for the hospital hammocks recently survived.
