Thomas Price

A picture of an unknown husband and wife, typical of Price's style
Thomas Price was born in 1839 and died in 1899. He began studio work in London around 1862, and set up in Jersey in 1869. His photos can be dated by the style of backstamp, and later by the negative number on the back. He was one of the most prolific portrait photographers in 19th century Jersey together with his son, with whom he traded as T Price and Son from 1891. Their business operated from 2 Peter Street, then 2 and 4 Peter Street, before they moved to the more fashionable Queen Street
